Enso is an FDA-cleared wearable technology that delivers electrical impulses for effective pain relief to those experiencing musculoskeletal discomfort. As the lead motion designer for this project, I created animations that correspond to the three patented waveforms available on the device.
The challenge was to develop an interactive looping animation with adjustable parameters, allowing for manual changes in speed, brightness, and pauses. We determined that Lottie would be the best format for this, so I leveraged stroke width, scale, and opacity to craft a series of animations that aligned perfectly with each waveform.
Inspired by the hardware's design, which resembles a pebble in a Japanese zen garden, the radial animation emanates gently from the center, highlighting the user's chosen intensity level. This animation flows outward, closely mirroring the physical sensations experienced by the user on the device.
